Auto Brake Clutch & Gear started in the early 1950s on Juneau Avenue, primarily as an auto and truck brake, clutch and gear parts retailer. Growth led to new locations along Water Street in the 1960s and 1970s.

The former owner, Ron Fedder, purchased the business in 1976. Ron moved Auto Brake Clutch & Gear to North Water, in 1978. Ron transformed the auto brake parts business into one of the largest, most vibrant auto and truck brake, clutch and gear parts warehouse distributors. Auto Brake Clutch & Gear also rebuilds transmissions and rear ends and does custom bonding of brake shoes for cars, trucks, trains and industrial applications (such as overhead cranes, elevators, presses and many more). If it moves, Auto Brake Clutch & Gear's got a brake for it.

When Ron Fedder retired in 2007, Paul Wendelberger and Michael Neerdaels purchased the business. Auto Brake Clutch & Gear moved from the Water Street location to Silver Spring Drive in Butler, Wisconsin.

More than twenty employees belong to the Auto Brake Clutch & Gear families. The old Milwaukee style of German excellence in machining and the long history of customer service live on under the new ownership.
